Editing images with the coolest filters, colours and contrasts. We love it! But which phone apps could you use to make your photos that little bit extra special? Last time, we gave you tips&tricks on how to take better pictures with your mobile. This time we’d love to share our three favourite apps and filters with you, so you can edit images like a true pro from now on.
Photography app: ‘VSCO CAM’
Want to subtly edit your images and prefer to use neutral filters, tones and contrasts? Then you are sure to make good use of our favourite, free (!!) app ‘VSCO CAM’.
Favourite filter: The filter ‘F2’ - it adds a very clear and neutral effect to each image with a subtle ‘mellow’ touch. The fun part is, that you get to decide the intensity of the filter. Just want to use it a tiny bit? Click the filter again and tune its intensity by hand. Easy!
Handy tip: Are you happy with the result of the filter and would you like to edit several pictures at once with these same settings? With the ‘VSCO CAM’ app this becomes very easy. How?
#1: Select the image you have already edited with that gorgeous, customised filter.
#2: Click on the three dots ( ••• ) featured in a row at the bottom right and select the option ‘copy transformation’.
#3: Select the images that you want to edit with that same filter - choose as many as you want.
#4: Select the option ( ••• ) once more, and click ‘paste transformation’. All of your selected images will then be edited with the very same filter - which is still adjustable by hand, if you feel the need.
Photography app: ‘Enlight’
Looking for a photo-editing app with an endless array of filters and photo-options with which you can edit your photograph to end up looking like a movie still? Maybe the app ‘Enlight’ could be the thing for you!
Favourite filter: the ‘DUO’ filters (more options available). The nice thing about these filters is that you can edit part of an image - and therefore making it stand out - whilst leaving the rest of the image untouched. You can also use the option ‘Mixer’; combining two pictures into one. The app will explain exactly how to do it. Super cool!
Handy tip: sometimes there is a detail in an image that you would rather not show. Think of a beach picture with someone in the background, a dirty spot on a plate in a food photography shot, or a horrible pimple on your chin in your favourite portrait picture. With the ‘healing’ option you can make these ‘unwanted blemishes’ disappear into thin air!
Photography app: ‘Picfx’
The photo-editing app ‘Picfx’ is ideal for those of you who want to go extreme in using multiple filters, vintage effects, bold colours and cool lighting options like ‘Bokeh’.
Favourite filter: ‘Bokeh: Hearts’ & ‘Bokeh 6’.
Yes! Finally an app that has gorgeous Bokeh effects. “Bokeh?”, we hear you think. Bokeh is the name for those points of light in depth-of-field photography which render the image with a special kind of magic. Because we just can’t make up our minds between these two far-out bokeh filters, we just had to pick them both. With these filters you turn your pictures into something very special!
Handy tip: You can use ‘Picfx’ in different layers. Want to add another filter to your image? Then just click ‘+’ and stack several filters on top of each other. You get to decide their intensity. This way you can endlessly tweak - until your image is exactly the way you like it!
For all the above apps goes: watch & learn. After some trial and error you will quickly discover how nice and handy to use each of them are. Easy! This way, your photographs are even more fun to turn into - let’s say - an IXXI collage.
